Trampoline (Bugs)

Trampoline is from the Smokstik EP Bugs. Released in 1998 and featuring Kingvegas on Chapman Stick and vocals and Hillary Koogler on drums this first Smokstik release highlights many facets of the Smokstik sound. This tune in particular features both the subtle and aggressive- with a clean, atmospheric and melancholy verse leading to an angry, aggressive and rocking chorus. Inspired by a friend who described being the “transition man” in the aftermath of a broken relationship to being the “Trampoline Man” this song is an angry ode to lost love.

Recorded on 8-track ADAT in my Brighton, MA apartment in 1998 with Digitech preamps for Warr Sounds and drum tracks done with 3 microphones (Kick, Snare, Overhead) in my brother’s living room in Haverhill, MA.

Trampoline- lyrics and music by John Kingvegas Kiehne

I’m riding a rollercoaster that I’m not really on
I’m taking a trip but I haven’t left home
These feelings feel so real but it feels like there’s nothing there
It’s not fair for me to care

I’m losing my mind
I’m losing my mind
I’m losing my mind
And God I’m wasting time
I’m losing my mind
I’m losing my mind

Please go away please God don’t leave me
Please go away please God don’t leave me
Please go away please God don’t leave me
Please go away please God don’t leave me
Please make it stop
Please make it stop
Please make it stop
Please make it stop

It tastes so sweet but it hurts so bad

Please, please, please, please…

I’m losing my mind
I’m losing my mind
I’m losing my mind
And God I’m wasting time
I’m losing my mind
I’m losing my mind

I was there in your misery
But where am I in your victory
I was there in your misery
But where am I in your victory
You’re transition man
Trampoline man
The transition man
The Trampoline man
The transition man
The Trampoline man
The transition man
The Trampoline man…
